1. Who we are
Jalen Trades is operated by Jalen Johnson, an individual operator based in Washington State, USA. The brand offers educational content, a Discord trading bot, an AI mentor, a structured curriculum, and cohort intensives. Contact: contact@jalentrades.com.
2. Data we collect
We collect only the data necessary to provide the service. By category:
- Account data: email address (for waitlist + member communications), Discord user ID (for role grants + bot integration), display name as you set it on Discord.
- Payment data: processed by Stripe. We do not store credit card numbers. Stripe stores customer ID, subscription status, billing history. Stripe's privacy policy applies to payment data.
- Bot interaction data: trades you log via the Discord bot, framework grades you receive, AI Mentor questions and responses, override-capture data (per Module 8). All of this stays in YOUR copy of the trading_journal.db on your local machine OR in the bot's per-tenant database segregated from other members' data.
- Site usage analytics: we use Plausible Analytics, a cookieless privacy-respecting analytics service. Plausible records page visits, referrer, country (no IP storage), and time-on-page. No personally identifiable information is collected. Plausible's data policy.
- Email communications: we use Buttondown for email distribution. Buttondown stores your email address, subscription status, and message-open data (open/click rates). Buttondown's privacy policy.
- What we do NOT collect: we do NOT collect or transmit your trade journal contents, framework grades, override-capture data, or AI Mentor query history to any third party. Your trading data stays local to your device or to the bot's per-tenant database; it is not aggregated, sold, or used to train external AI models.
3. How we use your data
- To provide the service: grant Discord roles when you subscribe, deliver AI Mentor responses, run framework grading, dispatch onboarding DMs, send launch and cohort announcements.
- To process payments: via Stripe. We never see your card data; Stripe handles it directly.
- To improve the service: aggregate, anonymized usage patterns (e.g., which curriculum modules are most-read) inform what content we build next. Your individual trade data is not part of this aggregation.
- To communicate with you: launch announcements, cohort openings, weekly recap newsletter, support replies. You can unsubscribe from any non-transactional email at any time.
4. Third-party services we use
We rely on a small number of third-party services to deliver the product. Each has its own privacy policy you should review if you have specific concerns:
- Stripe — payment processing
- Discord — community + bot integration; OAuth handshake at signup
- Anthropic — AI Mentor model API; we send your questions to Anthropic's API for response generation but do NOT send your trade journal contents to Anthropic. Per Module 8 privacy boundary, journal data stays local.
- Plausible Analytics — cookieless site analytics
- Buttondown — email distribution
- Vercel — site hosting
5. Data retention
- Active members: we retain your account data, payment history, and bot integration state for as long as your subscription is active.
- Cancelled members: account data retained for 12 months after cancellation for support, accounting, and reactivation purposes. After 12 months, on request, account data is deleted.
- Your bot data: stays in your local trading_journal.db or the per-tenant database. Deleting your subscription does NOT automatically delete your local journal data — you control that.
- Override-capture data: stays local to your device. Deleting your subscription does not delete your local override database. You can wipe at any time with `DELETE FROM overrides WHERE override_id = ?` per Module 8.
- Marketing emails: Buttondown retains email subscription data until you unsubscribe; subscription history retained for 24 months for unsubscribe-prevention compliance, then deleted.
6. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (GDPR for EU residents, CCPA for California residents, similar laws elsewhere), you have rights including:
- Right to access: request a copy of the data we hold on you. Email contact@jalentrades.com; we'll respond within 30 days.
- Right to deletion: request deletion of your account and associated data. Email contact@jalentrades.com; we'll process within 30 days.
- Right to portability: request your data in a structured, commonly-used format. We'll provide JSON or CSV depending on data type.
- Right to object / restrict: request that we stop using your data for specific purposes (e.g., marketing emails). You can also unsubscribe from emails at any time via the unsubscribe link.
- Right to rectification: if any data we hold is inaccurate, email contact@jalentrades.com to correct it.
7. Children
Jalen Trades is intended for users 18 years and older. Futures trading involves substantial financial risk and is not appropriate for minors. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 18. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a minor has provided data to us, contact us at contact@jalentrades.com and we will delete the data.
8. International transfers
Jalen Trades is operated from the United States. Data we collect may be processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. By using the service from outside the United States, you consent to international transfer of your data. We use service providers that comply with GDPR, CCPA, and other applicable international data protection frameworks.
9. Security
We use industry-standard security practices: HTTPS for all web traffic, encrypted database storage at our hosting providers, OAuth-based authentication for Discord integration, and Stripe-managed payment processing. No system is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute protection against unauthorized access. If we become aware of a breach affecting your data, we will notify you within 72 hours.
10. Cookies and tracking
- Essential: session cookies for Discord OAuth handshake during signup. Required for the service to function.
- Analytics: Plausible Analytics uses no cookies. We do not use Google Analytics or similar cookie-heavy trackers.
- No third-party advertising trackers. We do not run ads, retarget visitors, or share visitor data with ad networks.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy as the service evolves or as legal requirements change. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and email active members notifying them of the change. Continued use of the service after notification constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
